Subconscious Meditation

Technique

The technique is simple. You have to saturate your mind with beautiful, inspiring and idealistic thoughts. Write down the things you want as slogans and during meditation run these slogans through your mind, letting their full import and meaning lodge within your subconscious. Quotes of eminent persons are useful.

To Develop Confidence

When you feel diffident and lack confidence and courage, it may help to repeat over and over again in the hours of meditation the following quote from Swami Vivekananda,

"Have faith that you are all, my brave lad, born to do great things. Let not the barks of puppies frighten you: no, not even the thunderbolts of heaven, but stand up and work.'

To Attain Serenity

Many things occur in life that are beyond our control and comprehension. They are inevitable in everyday life and need to be accepted humbly. When faced with unavoidable sorrows, it may help to meditate on this verse of Reinhold Niebuhr:

"God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
The courage to change the things I can
And the wisdom to know the difference."

Surrender to God
Sorrow is also sublimated when placed in the perspective of the sorrows of the wider world. A meditation using the following affirmation of Edgar Cayce will help in placing this in perspective:
"Not my way, Lord. Have thine own way with me."

Ensuring Peaceful Sleep
An insomniac could invite refreshing sleep by meditating. Just before going to sleep recall the words of Norvell:

"I shall now fall into deep, natural and refreshing sleep. My mind is still and peaceful as a lake in the midst of a silent forest at midnight. I am surrounded by a sea of calmness. My mind is now retreating through the corridors of time back into timelessness. I am once again a child, without worries or cares on my mind. I have faith that God will protect me and solve all my problems, I am now floating on a cloud, up... up... up... into realms of forgetfulness, peace and beauty. I now sleep, sleep, sleep."

You may construct your own statement to suit your requirement and use it during meditation. The statement should be crisp, effective and, if possible rhythmic, so that when it is repeated mentally over and over again, vibrations will be generated in the body.

Instead of sentences and verses, only one word may also be chosen for this purpose. The word may be repeated a hundred times during meditation, concentrating fully on its meaning and purpose, so that it will be completely submerged in your subconscious. The word chosen should be positive, such as purity, humility, confidence, courage, love, silence etc.

By repeating certain sentences or a word, a specific command is given to the subconscious in a well-organised manner. In due course, thanks to the tremendous potential of the subconscious, the wishes of the meditator will be translated into reality in a surprising manner.
